The Organized Classroom Blog "Less Stress, More Effectiveness"
December 11, 2011
Hi there and welcome to the 12 Teacher Days of Christmas! Feel free to pass along as you see fit. :) I also highly suggest viewing this in your browser so all the graphics show up (click the option at the top of the email).
Without further ado...
On the eleventh day of Teacher Christmas, Amy Brown (aka Science Stuff) gave to me:
For grades 6-10, begin this lesson with the short PowerPoint presentation (9 slides) that is included. It will help the student to understand what it means to "compare and contrast". During the Powerpoint presentation, students are asked to compare two living organisms. The students will make a list of the similarities and differences between these two organisms. After comparing and contrasting the two organisms, the student will determine why these similarities and differences are important to these organisms.
The PowerPoint presentation is followed up by the 5 page student worksheet. As this worksheet is completed, students will practice over and over the skills of comparing and contrasting. Questions are thought provoking and require problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Answer key is included for the teacher.

*Please NOTE! All giveaways from here on out, will require that the entrants are followers of The Organized Classroom Blog (which is different than being a fan on the Facebook fan page). I want to make sure we are not getting "drive-by" entrants who never come back to see all the good ideas! Plus, I think it only fair to reward those who are loyal readers. So, if you are not yet a follower, please make sure to click the "Follow this blog" button on the Networked Blogs gadget on the right sidebar at The Organized Classroom Blog's website. Thanks!
